Abstract

796,535. Spinning &c. machine driving arrangements. HAMEL, E. July 30,1956 [July 30, 1955], No. 23396/56. Class 120(2) In a spinning or twisting machine wherein the spindles and delivery and drafting mechanisms are driven from a common reversible electric motor, a reversing gear interposed in the drive to the delivery &c. mechanism is so disposed that when it is moved from one position to the other it operates a switch controlling motor reversal; thus, change of direction of direction of rotation of the spindles synchronises with operation of the reversing gear and the direction of rotation of the delivery &c. mechanism remains unchanged. In one embodiment, the motor drives tin rollers 4 and spindle wharves 6 via a main shaft 1, gears 2, 3 and a belt 5. Gears 14, operating the delivery mechanism on each side of a double-sided machine, are driven from gear 2 through gear trains via a reversing gear 9 on a pivoted arm 10. In the position shown, arm 10 holds an arm 20 so that an extension 22 closes a motor-reversing switch 24. Arm 10 can be moved to the right so that gear 8 moves from engagement with a gear 15 into engagement with a gear 11, thereby reversing the drive to gears 14; at the same time, arm 10 enters a recess 26 in arm 20 which swings back to open switch 24 and reverse the motor, the direction of rotation of gears 14 thus remaining the same.
