Abstract

1,129,979. Control of two motors. ZINSERTEXTILMASCHINEN G.m.b.H. 29 March, 1966 [1 April, 1965], No. 13825/66. Heading H2J. [Also in Division D1] A machine in a textile spinning mill, especially a preparatory machine such as a carding- engine, a drafting frame, or roving frame has a main motor and a slow-speed auxiliary motor for driving it, and a switching device for starting and stopping the drive comprising at least one switch arranged on closing to actuate a first control circuit for starting the auxiliary motor and, on re-opening, to actuate automatically a second control circuit for starting the main motor at slow speed, the switching device also being provided with means for switching the main motor from slow to normal speed. In Fig. 1, the driving shaft of a main motor 17 projects from both sides of the motor. On one end is a pulley connected by a belt to a pulley 22 on the driving-shaft of a roving-frame. Above the motor is an auxiliary motor 25 connected by a belt to a pulley mounted by a oneway clutch on the other end of the shaft of motor 17. Thus, motor 25 drives the frame through the motor 17, but when motor 17 is operative it does not drive motor 25. In another form, the motors drive the frame separately, motor 25 being coupled to the framepulley 22 by gearing and a one-way clutch. A circuit is described embodying the following arrangements: (a) there are a number of alternative start buttons for the auxiliary motor and of alternative start and stop buttons for the main motor disposed at various places about the machine; (b) when the frame is to be driven by the auxiliary motor, the motor runs only as long as the starting button is depressed; (c) when a start-button of the main motor is depressed, the auxiliary motor is first started and runs as long as the button is depressed. When the button is released, the motor stops and the main motor is switched-in to run at slow speed, a resistance being included in its circuit. After an interval determined by a time-relay, the resistance is shorted, and the main motor runs at full speed. The main motor may be a star-delta motor, the star-circuit being employed to run the motor at slow speed and the delta circuit to run the motor at normal speed.
