Abstract
702,603. Printing machines. IGRANIC ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. April 23, 1951 April 27, 1950], No. 9400/51. Class 100 (2) Driving arrangements.- A printing press drive for a plurality of presses, comprises a common electric motor MI for slow speed drive of the presses, and driving connections between the motor and the presses respectively, the driving connections including respective clutches 13 whereby the motor MI may drive the presses selectively or collectively. As shown in Fig. 1, two printing presses comprising a plurality of printing units P1, P2, P3, P4 and folders F1,' F2, have individual single motor drives M1. M2, M3, M4, MF1, MF2 axially aligned and connected through a common shaft 10. Couplings 12 are'provided for isolating a unit or units in known manner. Each of the motors M, MF is provided with a speed regulator driven by a pilot motor 21 through a shaft 22 also' provided with isolating couplings 23. Switches 35, 45 are provided for each of the motors M. MF. A slow speed motor MI. energized through a switch 25 is provided for inching and drives a shaft 15 through a reduction gear 16. The shaft 15 is connected to the main shaft 10 through reduction gear 14 and clutches 13 operated by electromagnets 17. To start the press, a starting button 27, Fig. 2, is depressed which energizes a winding 25a to effect closing of the switch 25, thereby energizing the motor MI. At the same time contacts 25h are closed to complete a holding circuit for the winding 25a, and contacts 25c are closed to connect power supply line L1 to the contacts of subsequently operated push buttons 31, 37. With motor MI running inching button 31 is pressed to energize a winding 30a, thereby closing contacts 30b to energize electromagnets 17 and effect operation of the clutches 13, and also closing contacts 30c. The motor MI now operates to rotate the shaft 10 at the inching speed so long as button 31 is depressed. For continuous inching running, a run button 37 is pressed thereby energizing a winding 38a which completes a holding circuit for itself over contacts 38b and also a holding circuit for winding 30a over contacts 38c. Contacts 38d are also closed to connect power supply line L1 to the contacts of subsequently operated push buttons 39, 41. To increase the speed, increase button 39 is depressed thereby energizing winding 40a to close contacts 40b so as to energize pilot motor 21 in a direction to increase the speed of the press. The speed regulator 20 then moves to effect a connection between tracks 21a, thus energizing a winding 24a which closes contacts 24c, to close switches 35, 45 and energize the main motors, and also open contact 24b to de-energize winding 30a thereby causing disconnection of the clutches 13. To decrease the speed, decrease button 41 is depressed which, through winding 42a, and contacts 42b causes motor 21 to run in a direction to decrease the speed. The press may be stopped at any time by depressing stop button 26. A switch 32 is provided so that if desired the main motors may be energized directly the contacts 30c are closed on pressing the inching button 31, instead of being energized by means of the cross bar of the speed regulator, winding 24a, and closed contacts 24c. Specification 501,876 is referred to.
