Abstract
937,517. Coiling sliver. ZINSER TEXTILMASCHINEN G.m.b.H. Oct. 11, 1961 [Oct. 11, 1960], No. 36575/61. Class 120 (3). Apparatus for changing sliver cans, e.g. in drawing frames, with one or more sliver receiving cans at the output side of the machine, comprises pivoted arms movable around a vertical axis to engage full and empty cans arranged one behind another in a curved guided path and thereby direct the cans along such path so that the empty can is brought to rest in the place vacated by the full can. In the machine shown, sliver withdrawn from can 3 is drafted by rollers 1 and deposited in a can 31. Can change is effected by an arm 7, Fig. 1, or one side or the other of a double arm 7, Figs. 3 and 5, swinging about a fixed shaft 6, Fig. 4 (not shown), or hollow shaft 61 to propel full can 31 along a guide plate 52 sufficiently for an empty can 311 to move from reserve position (in recess 41) to operative position. After turning through about 60 degrees, arm 7 is lowered by a cam 9, turns with the shaft within a front wall 42, and is raised again when it has turned to a position in which it can engage the next reserve can 311. The mechanism is driven from the machine drive through a gear 63 or from a separate motor. The lower plate 5 is driven through a gear 82 and a shaft 81.
