Abstract

976,643. Double-twist apparatus. BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK A. G. Nov. 22, 1961 [Nov. 24, 1960], No. 41774 /61. Headings DID and D1F. In a double-twist spindle frame in which the spindles are displaceable and surrounded by balloon-restricting casings, each twisting station is covered by a movable flap, which when the spindle is in operative position fit into the frame to form a closed protective wall enclosing the stations. In Fig. 1, a series of flaps one for each station is provided: these are individually pivoted on pins 5 and may have hinged transparent portions 14. Thread-guides 15 may be provided in the parts 14, while the latter and the parts 9 may be sound-proofed. Each flap carries a bracket 8, Fig. 1 carrying the spindle-carrier 3, which is pivoted on pin 5, or the spindle itself, whereby the displacement of the spindle into and out of contact with the driving-belt 7 may be effected. Alternatively, the spindles may be arranged to be displaceable transversely of the spindle axis, A cleaning duct 13 may be provided. Alternatively lint &c. may be removed by the air-current produced by the belt and the rotation of the spindle: to this end, each flap may be double-walled, Fig. 2, and formed with an open ring 22 with a sloping base 23, so that lint &c. descends in the space between the walls to be collected on a belt. In Fig. 3, the balloon-casing and if desired ring 22 are in two parts, one fixed to the frame, and one to the flap, which also carries the spindle.
