Abstract

1373247 Open-end spinner; drive SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 16 Nov 1971 [28 Nov 1970 21 June 1971] 53181/71 Heading DID [Also in Division H2] An open-end spinning machine is driven by a single motor controlled via potentiometers in parallel to provide a low motor speed used, e.g. during starting, bobbin changing or stopping. Motor 2, Fig. 1, drives fibre feed 13, spinner 1 and yarn draw off 26 and is controlled via potentiometers 4, 40 and change-over switch 41. The machine may include two switches connected in parallel, (Fig. 2, not shown) one switch being operated by a timing device, e.g. by a motor-rotated cam or by a timing relay. Alternatively potentiometers 4, 40 (Fig. 3) may be switched by parallel switches 44, 45, 46, switch 44 being operated by a timing device comprising cam 54, and switch 45 being operated manually. To stop main motor 2, potentiometer 4 is switched in by relay 47 via switch 46 to drive motor 2 at a lower speed, the relay also actuating coupling 62 to connect motor 2 to cam 6 which, after a predetermined time, actuates a stop switch. Cam 6 may be rotated by its own motor, and cam 54 rotated by motor 2. More than two potentiometers, or groups of potentiometers, may be used.
