Abstract
1,192,377. Open end spinning. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. 7 Nov., 1967 [9 Nov., 1966], No. 50250/66. Heading D1D. In an open end spinning m/c means are provided such that when stopping spinning the feed of fibres to the roter is stopped while the spinning and removal of the yarn continues until all fibres are removed from the rotor. In the open end spinning m/c shown, operation of a stop switch causes the rotor driving belt 30, the sliver feeding rollers 13, 14, the delivery rollers 24, 25 and take up roller 26 to be stopped. Simultaneously an arm 32 having a yarn engaging part 33 is moved by a pneumatic piston-cylinder arrangement 35 to deflect the delivered yarn as shown at 34. Thus the "slowing down" rotation of rotor 19 against the stationary belt 30 and the withdrawal of the yarn by the part 33 causes all the fibres in the rotor to be spun and removed. On starting up a switch is operated which results in rotor 19 and delivery rollers 15, 16 being driven. When these components reach operational speed a further switch is operated to cause pistoncylinder device 35 to move arm 32 to the right thus allowing the yarn end to be drawn back into the spinning chamber by suction. Rollers 13, 14 are started so that fibre is once again fed to the chamber. When arm 32 completes its traverse to the right a switch MS3 is operated to cause the drive to rollers 24, 25 and 26 to be resumed. 'Normal operation is thus recommenced. The speed and distance of movement of arm 32 can be adjusted by valves 46 in the pneumatic circuit of device 35 and by adjusting the position of stop switches MS2 and MS3.
