Superheating by a throttling.-In a high-pressure steam power installation in which the steam, generated above the critical pressure, is throttled down to working pressure and superheated, the throttling is effected mainly in the superheater 4 instead of by means of the usual throttle valve 3. For this purpose the dimensions of the superheater are such that surplus pressure is consumed by the resistance to flow. The steam then passes through a turbine 6, and condenser 8 and the water is returned to the generator 2.
