Abstract
233,598. Hunt, W. Oct. 11, 1924. Variable-speed gearing comprises a driving shaft Y and one or more nested sleeve such as Z which are driven in succession by the engagement of one or more clutches B, free-wheel clutches such as H allowing the lower gears to be overrun. The clutches B are controlled by hand or foot at the will of, say, a vehicle driver, and not automatically as described in Specification 215,560. The clutch A shown connects the engine shaft X to the shaft Y. The gear trains C, D and E, F shown are of bevel type. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 10643/03, 24140/05, 7067/13 and 137,783.
