Magnesium and like powder lamps and burners; wick burners, flame-regulating in ; flame protectors. -In a photographic flashlight apparatus, arms B, C, carrying a powder tray P and a reflector C<1> are pivoted respectively on the arms L<1>, L<2> of a bracket D connected to a stand by passing the oil reservoir A of a wick burner W through the bracket into the stand. A flame regulator U attached to a perforated pan Q, provided with a hinged wind guard H, is screwed on the burner W. The stand comprises two telescopic sections E<1>, E<2> hinged together at N'. When used with a stand camera, the section E<2> is connected by a bolt E<4> to a rod E<3> fitted to a tripod R, the arm B being actuated against the action of a spring S by means of a wire J and a cord Y so as to bring the tray P towards the burner W for igniting the powder which is preferably sprinkled on a layer of cotton wool, a tuft of which protrudes through an opening in the tray. When used with a hand camera, the rod E<3> is detached and a tray G for supporting the camera is attached by clips to the section E<2> which' is secured by the nut N<1> at right angles to the section E<1>, the cord Y being passed over pulley X, through the section E<2>, and over the pulley Z and secured to a block I mounted slidably in a case F and provided with an operating-knob O.
