Description

' Jan. 1771928. 1,66,745
' B. MARTIN BLOWTORCH AND FIRE POT v filed June 24. 1927 is only necessary to move the guard member 2 upon its pivot into position in line with the burner tube as seen in Figure 1 when it serves its purposeetlectually as a safety combustion guard. h
After the torch is pumped up with air take the safety guard and move it on its pivot into the position shown in Figure 3, then slowly open the needle valve and let the oil run in; the oil will run directly into the drip pan. Swing the safety guard into the position shown in Figure 1, and then light with a match. After the oil in the drip cup has nearly burned out, open the needle valve slowly and have the burner hot for work. Then swing the guard 2 to the right or left out of alignment with the burner tube. In Windy or cold weather or when the burner gets cold, swing the guard to the front of the burner tube for a. short time to have it hot again without touching the needle valve rod.
In case the workman does not want to use the torch for a time, say half an hour or so, swing the safety guard in front of the burner tuhe this leaving only a small flame burning, enough to generate the burner and at the same time saving fuel. hen ready to use again swing the guard away and regulate the supply of oil and the flame. This is a simple operation and leaves the solderingirou on the rest, ready for use agani.

lV hat is claimed as new is;
1. A blow torch or fire-pot accessory cone prising a supporting member with means for detachably mounting it upon the burner tube, a horizontal member pivotally carried thereby, and a guard member depending from the pivoted member whereby the latter may be placed in alignment with the burner tube.
2. A blow torch orlire pot accessory compi'ising a supporting member having means for attachment to a burner tube, a second member pivotally mounted thereon, and a cup-shaped member pending from said second member, the open end 01 said cup- .shaped member being contracted at its open end, said cup-shaped member being movable on the pivot to face the burner tube.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
