Lighting fires.-An incombustble tube A packed with asbestos or the like B, and open at one or both ends only, is soaked in oil and placed horizontally beneath the fuel to be ignited, and a light applied to one end or to an attached cord. The tube A may be of metal, of oval or other section, and may have a handle C, whereby it can be removed from the fire.
