Abstract

526,144. Lighting. GAS LIGHT & COKE CO., and HOLLIDAY, G. C. March 9, 1939, No. 7630. [Class 75 (iii)] The burner 7 of a gas-burning appliance such as a sump heater for motor cars or a radiator for cinemas &c. is lit by a flame applied to a hole 13 in a flash tube composed of two parts 1, 2 secured to the wall 5 of the appliance by a ferrule 3 and nut 4, the lighting hole 13 being normally covered by a cylindrical shutter 10 which may be pulled outwardly against the resistance of a spring 11 engaging a disc 9 on the part 1. The inner end 6 of the part 2 is belled out.
