2734. Hudson, J. C. Feb. 4. Pilot jets.-Acetylene lamps for fire-engines &c. are provided with a continually-burning oll lamp for igniting purposes. The acetylene lamp A is provided with the usual burner B near which is fixed an oil lamp D supplied with oil from the tank E. The lamp D, which is always burning, is used simply to ignite the acetylene when formed, and is not for illuminating purposes.
