Abstract
203,836. Seymour, E. July 10, 1922. Battery lamps.-A portable electric lamp for eyetesting and other purposes consists of a base adapted to carry a battery, a pillar or support attached to the base so as to fold down, and a lamp bulb at the other end of the pillar enclosed in an adjustable casing, which has a hole from which the light emerges. In the form shown, the circular flat metal base a, which has a suspension ring j and a removable lid a', carries on lugs d a hinged arm e. The lamp and socket are carried by a second hinged member e' at the upper end of the arm e and the lamp is enclosed by a tubular casing h which is finger-tight on the member e<1> for adjustment and has a window i<1> which may be fitted with ground glass. The battery circuit may be completed through the metal parts of the device on one pole and an insulated wire within the arm e on the other pole. A switch is provided at c. The Provisional Specification states that the base of the lamp casing and lamp socket may be made to slide detachably into the top of the arm e and that the arm e may be jointed in two places to facilitate folding.
