Abstract

222,360. Rigby, P. Jan. 3, 1924. R÷ntgen-ray and like apparatus. - Apparatus for the radiation treatment of disease comprises a telescopic pillar encircled by a resistance of cylindrical form, and a bifurcated carrier for the projector, so constructed that the projector is symmetrically mounted with respect to the pillar. The base 1 carries a, tubular stem 3 within which fits a telescopic pillar 4, 5, the part 4 of which is secured to the stem 3 by a pinching- screw 6, and the part 5 is free to slide into the part 4 and is secured by a pinching-screw 7. The projector 8, which is shown as an arc lamp of the type described in Specification 213,681, [Class 39 (i), Electric lamps, Arc &c.], is pivotal]y mounted on a bifurcated carrier 9 having a stem 10 which fits within the tube 5 so as to be capable of rotation therein, a pinching-screw 11 being provided to secure the carrier in the desired position. The angle at which the projector is held in the carrier is adjusted by means of a nut 12. The terminals 20 on the projector are connected to a plug 21, and to enable different voltages to be applied a resistance 14 is provided which is wound on a cylinder 15 surrounding the stem 3 and is clamped between metal plates 16 insulated by bushings 17; a slider 19<a> regulates the amount of resistance employed.
