Shade-holders.-A telescopic support for lamp shades comprises a skeleton framework arranged in two parts slidably connected together, the arms of one or both parts being continuously strained by twisting or bending so as to maintain the parts in the adjusted position by friction. The upper part A carries a lamp socket and the lower part B carries a base which may be adapted for supporting the fitting in a vase or like ornamental receptacle. The part A is composed of wire rods soldered at the top to the lamp socket b and at the bottom to a ring h. The lower part is composed of similar wire rods passing with frictional engagement through the ring h and terminating in eyes o which slidably embrace the wires of the part A. The lower ends of the wires are soldered to the base c', which in the case shown has a pad of felt underneath which may be secured by means of an adhesive to the base of a vase as shown in Fig. 2. Alternatively a suction device may be provided for this purpose or the fitting may be packed in the vase with sand. The shade is secured in position over the lamp by a screw j engaging a screwed hole in the lamp socket which, according to a modification, may be pivotally mounted on the fitting so that the light may be directed as required.
