. LAmr-srrann FRAME.
Application filed April 4,
This invention relates to. lamp shade frames.
The principal object ofthe present invention is the provision of a lamp shade frame of dual characterwhich will. be useful optionally, in conjunction with either a drop light bulb or an upright light bulb.
Another object of the present invention is a th provision of a lamp shade of the indicated character which will embody means for gripin a ortion of a lam fixture su orting ay 7 depending lamp element, and which is adapted to be associated with an upright lamp element or bulb directly in contact therewith. The nature of the invention audits distinguishing features and'advantages will appear when the following specification is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which Figurel is a side elevation of a drop light bulband its fixture with the lamp shade frame of the present invention arranged in place on the socket of the. fixture, and the shade being indicated in dot and dash lines. 115 .Fig. 2 is a view showing the lamp shade frame associated with an upright light bulb.
Fig. 3 is a plan viewiof the lamp shade frame.
Referring now to. the drawing, and particularly to Fig. 3, it will be apparentthat, the
lamp shade frame of the present invention. in g the illustrated embodiment, consists of a ring member 10, spring means 11 connected with and arranged substantially in the plane of the ring member 10, andsprings means 12 connected with the ring member 10 and spaced from the same.
The spring means 11 is in the form of a divided ring member connected with the ring 40 member 10 by a portion 13 which is a continuation of the ring member 11.
The spring means 12 is in the/form of a divided ring member connected with the ring member 10 by portions 14'. The several features constituting the. lamp shade frame of the present invention may be made of any suitable material, and in the present instance are produced from spring wire of the proper gage. This kind of material provides the necessary flexibility and springiness to thering members 11 and 12.
The lamp shade will be attached to the ring member 10, and such lamp shadeis con ventionally illustrated in dot and dash lines 1927.' Serial No. 180,827.
When it is desired to use the frame and its shade in conjunction with an upright light bulb,'it is only necessary to seat the ring-memher12 on the upper end of the light liulb as shown in Fig. 2. The ring member 12, in the present instance, is'shown divided to produce a certain amount of flexibility in order that a clamping effect may be obtained in conjunction with the light bulb. If desired the ring member 12 may be one continuous piece of material to provide a closed ring member.
From the foregoing it will be apparent that, there has been described a lamp shade frame of dual character, and that it is of simple construction, and one which will be comparatively inexpensive although affording an added advantage over alamp shade frame having but one use. I
I claim:
1. A lamp shade frame for use with a lamp bulb and its socket, said frame comprising a shade supporting member, a substantially circular clamping member connected with the shade supporting member for connecting the frame with the socket to hold the frame associated with the lamp bulb whether the lamp bulb is in a depending or upright position,
and a second substantially circular member 7 connected with the shade supporting member adapted to support the frame from the lamp bulb in association therewith when the lamp bulb is in an upright position.
25A lamp shade frame for use with a lamp bulb and its socket, said frame comprising three substantially circular members connected together, there being a member adapted to support alamp shade, a member adapted to clampingly engage a portion of the socket to hold the frame associated with said lamp bulb, and a member adapted to engage a portion of the lamp bulb to support the frame directly from the lamp bulb in association therewith. I ALEX LUSTIG.
