LIGHTING FIXTURE.

This invention relates to lighting fixtures, and has for its main object and feature the provision of simple means whereby a color medium may be readily associated with an ordinary electric bulb, even when situated within a reflector or an enclosing element and whereby, moreover, the color medium may be quickly changed so as to obtain difl'erent colors at diflerent times. This is especially useful in connection with store window display lights where it is desired to obtain diflerent lighting effects at different times.

In the accompanying drawing the invention is disclosed in a concrete and preferred form and shows a sectional View through a reflector and associated parts with the electric bulb in elevation.

1 indicates a socket in which is seated an electric bulb 2 having a neck 3. Surrounding said electric bulb, and secured to the socket in any suitable way, there is preferably a reflector, here shown as an open-mouth reflector 4t. 5 is a cup-shape color medium or member enclosing the outer end oi the bulb, which medium may be colored glass, and is preferably sustained by the bulb by means of spring clip 6.

7 is a cap of opaque material, such as aluminum surrounding the neck and closing the open end of the cup-shape member.

The light coming from the bulb passes through the'color medium and the colored light is reflected by the reflector, and light rays from the lamp are prevented from passing to the reflector by way of the neck owing to the presence of the opaque cap. Thus the exact coloring that may be desired can be obtained. If it is desired to change the color effect, the cap is disconnected, the cup-shape member is removed and another member of a different color is substituted.

The reflector may be of any suitable mate rial, such as glass, and if of glass will preterably have its outside surface covered with K outer end of the bulb and extending with its open end toward the neck of the reflector, supporting means for the shade removably engaging the outer end of the bulb and removable with said shade through the open mouth of the reflector while the bulb and reflector remain in position on the socket and an opaque cup surrounding the neck of the bulb and closing the open end of the shade.

2. A lighting fixture comprising: a socket, an open mouth reflector, having a contracted neck portion, supported by said socket, an electric bulb, having a neck, seated in the socket and extending into the reflector, a cup-shape shade enclosing the outer end of the bulb and extending with its open end toward theneck of the reflector, supporting means for the shade removably engaging the outer end of the bulb and removable with said shade through the open mouth of the reflector while the bulb and reflector remain in position on the socket, and an opaque cup surrounding the neck of the bulb and extending'in between the neck of the reflector and the open end of the shade.
