Abstract

222,484. Caspari, F. Sept. 27, 1923, [Convention date]. Coking and carbonizing processes.-In the low temperature distillation, by external heating, of low grade fuels having a high volatile content, for example, brown coal, peat, &c., tarry substances are added before or during the distillation so as to obtain dust free concentrated gases, with a low content of oxygen and carbonic acid, and a lumpy distillation residue suitable for briquetting. The proportions specified are 20-25 per cent of tar and 80-75 per cent of peat &c. and the mixture is distilled at 400-600‹ C.
