Abstract
215,967. Nielsen, H. H., B³low, E. von, and Meyn, E. E. May 23, 1923. Regulating.-In an engine having a combustion chamber 3 with inlet valve 4 at the top and exhaust valve 7 in a channel 6 at the base of the chamber, the quality of the mixture is varied according to the load by means of axiallv-adjustable cams 12 for the inlet and exhaust valves, the arrangement being such that, under reduced loads, the exhaust valve remains open longer allowing air to be drawn into the cylinder, and the inlet valve opens correspondingly later.
