Abstract

335,756. Buchi, A. Nov. 3, 1928, [Convention date]. Regulating. - In engines supplied with air charge by compressors driven by exhaust turbines, the pressure in the exhaust pipe between the engine and turbine is periodically lowered by opening a bye-pass valve to the whole or part of the turbine. The valve may be worked by a cam on the engine shaft and open a bye-pass to the atmosphere. The valve may be controlled by the pressure of the exhaust air, or as shown the valve 18 is controlled by a piston 27 subject on its upper side to the pressure of the exhaust and on its lower side to the air pressure and a spring. In this arrangement the bye-pass leads to a second stage 23 of the turbine 12. Specification 262,106 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also states that the control of the valve 18 may be effected by the compressed air alone. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
