Abstract

186,716. Winters, D. L. July 6, 1921. Closure member, hinged valve; actuating- mechanism; fluid-actuated valves.-The air intake 5 to a carburettor is controlled by an unbalanced butterfly-valve 11, 12 opened by suction against a light spring 14 attached by an operating wire 15. When closed, the smaller side 12 of the valve abuts against a block 6. The valve may be closed by the wire 15, the spring 14 acting only as a continuation, of the wire; further operation of the wire when the valve is closed tensions the spring and increases the load on the valve.
