Abstract

Breech actions, drop-down barrel.-Relates to ejector mechanism of the kind in which the ejector hammer, of the roll-over type, has an extension-piece acted upon during the opening of the gun by parts in the breech-body. The extension-piece 6, Figs. 4 and 5, is pivoted to the main part 1 of the hammer so as to have a limited relative movement and is maintained in normal position by a spring 9, either a leaf spring, Fig. 4, or a helical spring acting on a plunger 16, Fig. 5. When the gun is opened, if the firing hammer has fallen, the end 13, Fig. 15, of the cocking-lever 12 acts on the shoulder 14 of the extension 6 and the ejector hammer is rotated until it is in a position to be operated by its spring, as shown in Fig. 13. When the firing hammer has not fallen, the end of the extensionpiece 6 engages a recess 18, Fig. 17, in the actionbody and is rotated anticlockwise, Figs. 13 and 17. without actuating the ejection hammer.
