Abstract

15,605. Baker, W. July 4. Breech actions, drop-down barrel. - Relates to ejector-mechanism of the kind described in Specification 21,967/05 wherein each ejector spring is mounted in a carrier or lever which is raised to compress the spring during the opening of the gun. According to the present invention, the carrier effects a positive initial movement of the extractor through the medium of the kicker or ejector hammer. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the spring-carrier b is turned by the shoulder e on the actionbody when the gun is opened. During this turning movement, a lug m on the carrier engages the tail k of the ejector hammer and effects a positive movement of the extractor i. The hammer is then held by a pivoted sear o which, if the corresponding firing-hammer has fallen, is released by the projecting end of a sliding rod r. The invention is shown applied to an ' under-and-over ' gun.
