Abstract

29,622. Borchardt, H. Feb. 26, [Convention date]. Breech actions, sliding breech-block; firing- appliances applicable generally. - Relates to trigger mechanism in which the sear can move longitudinally to escape from the trigger in order to prevent " double shots," such as has already been proposed in connexion with pivoted firing-hammers. The invention consists in the application of such mechanism to small-arms having sliding hammers. In the preferred form, the sear i is bored to receive a spring pin i<4> engaging with the central pivot i<o> so that, when the sear is rocked by the inclined face q<1> of the trigger extension, and the lug d<1> of the firing- pin is released, the sear is moved rearwards out of engagement with the trigger. Owing to the action of the spring i<2>, the nose i<5> of the sear is then projected into the path of the returning firing-pin which causes it again to take up the position shown. If the pressure has not been removed from the trigger, the pin i<1> recedes into its socket until the trigger is released. The trigger is mounted by means of slots upon two pins q<3>, q<4>, as shown in Fig. 2. The pin q<4> first acts as pivot until the trigger has moved to the limit set by the forward slot, whereupon the trigger moves for the rest of its travel about the pivot q<3>. Specification 18,774/93 is referred to.
