Abstract

18,202. Lake, H. W., [Roth Akt.-Ges., G.]. Aug. 7. Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-Relates to the trigger mechanism of automatic guns, and consists in an arrangement whereby the sear is held depressed during the recoil of the breech-block and is then released to enable it to re-engage the firing-pin; by this means wear between the sear and the firing-pin is reduced. The trigger mechanism comprises the trigger 11, the sear 6, a spring pawl 7 pivoted to the sear, and a lever 3 pivoted to the frame and to the trigger and having at its rear end a nose 4 projecting into the path of the breechblock and, at its front end a lateral stud 5 engaging a slot in the pawl 7. After the discharge, the sear is held depressed until the nose 4 is struck by a part of the breech-block; the pawl 7 is thereby rotated and released from the trigger and the sear resumes its engaging position.
