Abstract
28,850. Hansen, G. A. Dec. 9. Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-Relates to pistols of the type in which the magazine is placed in the stock or grip and the firing- hammer behind the stock and underneath the slider, and consists in an arrangement for reducing the length of that arm of the hammer which is operated by the bolt during recoil, so as to increase the reactive force of the hammer spring. For this purpose a sliding trigger, Figs. 11 and 12, is used, having a slotted extension 36. The sear, Figs. 13 and 14, is mounted within the slot of the extension 36 so that it can rock slightly on the hammer pivot 21 and can move longitudinally against the spring 32. The hammer 20 is mounted between the arms of the sear, with which it engages by the nose 25. Fig. 5 shows the parts in firing position, the trigger being pressed and the sear retracted by the engagement of the projection 37, Fig. 11, with the shoulder 27 so as to release the hammer. As the bolt recoils the sear is depressed by the shoulder 18, in which circumstance, owing to the slot 33, it can move forwards under the action of the spring 32 to re-engage with the hammer before the trigger is released. The slot 31, Fig. 14, in the sear engages with a pin on the frame and limits the rocking movement. A safety-member 40 is hinged to the triggerguard and is adapted to engage by the pin 43 with the trigger, and by the finger 45 with slots 46, 47 corresponding to the extreme positions of the slider.
