Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-Relates to automatic guns in which the sear consists of a detent 4 pivoted to the firing-pin 1 and engaging a fixed stop 6, and consists in the method of mounting and controlling the sear-actuating member to ensure single-shot firing. The pivot hole 19 of sear-actuating member 16 is elongated to allow a slight longitudinal movement. During the return of the breech-bolt, the trigger being still pulled, the sear 22 engages the nose 21 of the member 16 and carries this member forwards until the sear engages the fixed shoulder 6. When the trigger is released, the member 16 is first turned by the engagement of the pin 14 with the slot 15, and then retracted to the firing position by the engagement of the nose 17 with the inclined surface 23.
