Abstract

714,807. Safety devices for firearms. HUSQVARNA VAPENFABRIKS AKTIEBOLAG, July 24, 1952, No. 18806/52. Class 119 A firearm with a rotatable and longitudinally movable breech-bolt, has a safety member mounted on the breech-bolt casing and laterally of the sear 2. this member being manually displaceable in a longitudinal direction so that it can be moved to and from a position where it co-operates with a pin 7 on the rear end of the sear to lock the latter against firing movement. In Fig. 1 the trigger I is pivoted at 3 to the sear 2 which is povited at 5. The safety device is in two parts 8, 18, of which the part 8 is movable by hand back and forth and is made to occupy two positions by the co-operation of a pin 11 on the said part with the V-portion 12<SP>1</SP> of a leaf spring 12. A slot 10 in the part 8 receives a pin 19 on the part 18 so that the latter follows the movements of the part 8. When the two parts are in the rear position shown, the hooked forward end of the part-18 engages a pin 7 on the sear and thus prevents the latter from moving when the trigger is pulled. In a modification, Fig. 3, the safety device is in one piece and has an extension 21 for engaging the pin 7 on the sear when moved to its forward position. The device 8 carries a pin 23 which moves in a bore 25 in the part 4 of the bolt casing and can project into a bore 26 in the bolt handle 27, thus keeping the handle in its downward position until the device 8 is moved to the rear.
