Variable-speed gearing, of the type comprising a clutch R movable upon a main shaft S to changespeed, is controlled by a fork D operated by a shaft or member C inside the lay shaft A. The shaft C may slide simply, or it may be adapted to turn and carry a cam H and screw G assisting one another as shown. A modification comprises two cams, and a further modification two screws.
