Abstract

201,280. Milward & Sons, Ltd., H., and Mole, S. N. May 10, 1922. Air vessels; delivery pipes; pumps for liquids containing solids in suspension. - The pump barrel 9 is surrounded by an air vessel 6 into which the liquid is delivered by the pump through a valve 15. The delivery pipe 25 passes through the vessel 6 with its opening 27 near the bottom, the delivery end being provided with a cock &c. A sleeve 22 carried by the top of the barrel 9 may surround the piston-rod to limit the upstroke and form an air lock at the upper end of the barrel to prevent leakage past the piston from escaping through the cap 20. A port 23 may be provided to return leakage. An additional air lock 20<a> may be provided between the cap 20 and the end of the sleeve 22. One or more valvecontrolled ports 29 may be arranged in the wall of the chamber 6 to allow a portion of the delivery liquid to pass back to the reservoir 7 and agitate the liquid therein.
