Abstract

1349122 Filling nozzle HORIX MFG CO 10 Aug 1972 [27 Aug 1971] 37342/72 Heading B8T The vent tube 14 of a filling nozzle with liquid outlet and vent air inlet ports 12, 13 respectively that are covered and uncovered by a tube 4, which is upwardly slidable against a spring 5, is provided at its tip with a stud 23 having an axial bore through it so that any liquid leaking into the vent tube between filling cycles when the ports 12, 13 are covered is sucked out by the subatmospheric pressure in the tank 1, into which the vent tube opens, clearing the vent tube for the next filling cycle. A valve 26 in the stud 23, possibly comprising a ball seated above the bore, prevents any liquid that leaks into the vent tube after the machine has been shut-down and the pressure in the tank has reverted to atmospheric, from dripping through the bore. The port 12 has a fine mesh cover 18 to reduce foaming.
