Abstract

948,927. Rotary vacuum pumps. LEYBOLD HOLDING A.G. May 20, 1960 [June 19, 1959], No. 17831/60. Heading F1F. In a liquid sealed vacuum pump a metered quantity of air is introduced into the compression chamber not in communication with the suction branch in mixture with the sealing liquid, to reduce noise. A device 15 passing through a boss 17 in the centre of the outlet valve 9 has a liquid inlet 155 and air inlets 154 controlled by a ball valve 152 the lift of which is limited by a cup 153. On discharge liquid and air passes out through the valves 9 and 152. When the next chamber communicates with the outlet 8 the valve 9 closes and liquid and air is drawn in from the tube 15.
