709,857. Delivering measured quantities of liquids. SEITZ-WERKE GES. May 1, 1952 [May 2, 1951], No. 10956/52. Class 106(5) [Also in Group XVII] Apparatus for delivering measured quantities of liquid into vessels 23 comprises a reservoir 13 supplied by a pipe 14 and connected by pipes 21 and spring- loaded valves 24 to measuring chambers 19 in each of which is a piston 20 that is raised by the incoming liquid until an adjustable stop 29 contacts a common stroke-adjustment member 17. The member 17 is of annular construction and may be screwed to or slidable on a boss 16 on the reservoir cover 15 and secured in adjusted position by a lock nut 18. For easy removal of the measuring units, the member 17 may have cut-out portions on its periphery. The valve plunger 24 is raised by upward movement of the vessel 23 and closes the inlet before uncovering an outlet port 26 to allow the contents of the chamber to discharge through the hollow bore of the plunger. A plug 30 having a number of small holes prevents frothing and subsequent dripping. Sterile air from an annular space 34 is supplied by pipes 32 and 33 to the top of each measuring unit and to the top of the reservoir, hoods 31 and 41 being fitted over these parts.
