Abstract

499,115. Dispensing liquids. RANSOM, H. May 13, 1938, No. 14379. [Class 106 (v)] In a liquid - measuring device in which the upward movement of a stem 9 against the resistance of a spring 17 closes the bore 3 of the liquid supply passage in the body 1 and opens an air valve 14 to allow the flow of liquid from the measuring chamber 4 through ports 11 to a delivery passage 10, dripping of liquid from the device after delivery is prevented by the provision of a cup washer or packing 16 on the stem 9 engaging an extension 8 on the base 6 of the measuring chamber so as to withdraw liquid from the passage 10 through the ports 11 as the stem 9 moves downwardly to its normal position. The stem 9 may be provided with means for direct manual operation or for operation by the vessel into which the measured quantity of .liquid is to be fed. The measuring chamber is formed by a glass tube 5 secured between the body 1 and base 6.
