Abstract

525,631. Delivering measured quantities of liquids. BOWKER, R. P. Feb. 24, 1939, No. 6127. [Class 106 (v)] A device for dispensing measured quantities of liquid comprises a tapered member 1 fitting in an inverted bottle or other liquid container and having a spring- pressed tubular end 2 formed with a slot 2A and carrying a valve 3 admitting air to a glass measuring chamber 6. The chamber 6 is fitted at its lower end with a housing 7 for a delivery valve 10 having a tubular outlet 15 and carrying rubber seating washers 11, 12. When a liquid receptacle is pressed against arms 14 on the outlet 15 the valve 10 is raised so as first to expose ports 16 in the outlet 15 to the measuring chamber, next to seal the bottom of the end 2 by the washer 11 then to open the air valve 3 and finally to shut off the measuring chamber from the bottle by closing the slot 2A. When the measuring chamber has emptied and the receptacle has been removed a spring 13 returns the parts to their initial positions and the measuring chamber refills. A wire gauge tube 17 may be inserted in the outlet 15 to prevent dripping.
