Abstract

685,858. Dispensing beverages by gaseous pressure. BARNES, F. J. T. March 7, 1951 [April 5, 1950], No. 8628/50. Class 102 (ii) [Also in Group XXIX] In apparatus for dispensing beverages from containers, a high pressure gas cylinder 11 is connected to a reducing valve 25 to form an assembly which is detachably mounted on the container 52. As shown in Fig. 1, the cylinder 11 is located in a holder 12 which may include a piercing member or a regulating valve and the assembly is mounted by a clamping screen 72 gripping the rim 66 of the container. The means tor gripping the rim may comprise a spring arm 65 as shown in Fig. 2. The outlet from the reducing valve is connected at 51 to the container. The reducing valve comprises a diaphragm 30 clamped between plates 32, 33 by a bolt 36 and nut 37 and a valve 45 with a stem 40 is secured to the bolt 36 and the stem 40 passes with small clearance through the bore 23 in the body. The interior of the container is connected through a cock 50 to the chamber 26, the plate 33 being cut away to prevent the orifice 35 being sealed. The diaphragm 30 is loaded by a spring 55 adjustable by a plug 57 which is sealed by a cap 60. Specification 400,374, [Group XVII], is referred to.
