Abstract
697,799. Tapping casks &c. MOTT, A. C., and BOTTEN, A. W. Dec. 1, 1950 [Sept. 22, 1950]. No. 23320/50. Class 21 [Also in Group XXVIII] In apparatus for dispensing beverages by gaseous pressure, the container 5 has a boss 6 that is fitted with a plug 9A from which depends a pipe 7 that is adjustable and gripped by a ring 50 compressed by a nut 49. A spring-loaded valve 26 has guides 30 that extend through and project from the surface of the plug. A sealing ring 31 is screwed into the boss 6 and for transport is fitted with a closing cap. For dispensing the beverage, the closing cap is removed and a head 15 is attached by the nut 13 so that the pin 23 registers with the recess 24 and the face of the head engages the guides 30 and opens the valve 26. The passages 19, 20 align and a source of gas under pressure is applied to the connector 18 to open the spring-loaded valve 32 and force the contents past valve 26 to the delivery. In an alternative form, the bore of the head 15 has a tubular extension which engages the valve 26 and lifts it from its seat; this tubular extension may be adjustable in the head. The valve 32 may have guides that are opened by the attachment of a filling head to permit escape of air on filling.
