Abstract
1,065,176. Bottling &c. H. L. HUNT, and W. V. MATTHEWS. Dec. 1, 1964 [Oct. 23, 1963], No. 41796/63. Heading B8T. A hand-held injection nozzle for filling liquids into bottles, &c. comprises a body 1 having a duct 3 leading from a liquid entry 2 connectable to a pressurized liquid source feeding a delivery head 4 that can be temporarily attached to a filler valve plug (Fig. 2) on a bottle &c. to be filled, a first normally closed valve 5 controlling the liquid flow along the duct 3 being manually openable by upward movement of a handle 7, and a second normally closed valve in the head 4 having a valve body 12 axially movable under liquid pressure so as to form a liquid seal with the filler valve plug before said second valve is opened to discharge liquid therefrom. The valve in the head 4 comprises a first mushroom valve 21 on the bottom of the spindle 22 of which is a second mushroom valve 23 having a stem 25. When liquid pressure causes the valve 21 to lower and open the stem 25 engages the filler valve plug so that the valve 23 remains open. The spindle 22 and stem 25 may have radial holes for the passage of liquid therethrough. The liquid enters the filler valve plug by depressing a non-return ball valve therein. In a modification (Fig. 3), the valve in the head 4 comprises a ball valve that opens under liquid pressure.
