Abstract

771,141. Powder distributers. MICHEL, D. D. March 3, 1955 [June 4, 1954], No. 6306/55. Class 18. [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXIX] A valve for dispensing powder from a container 10 comprises a hollow stem 16 closed at one end by a valve head 52 and provided with transverse openings 56, and the valve head can seat against a resilient member 30 which is extended upwardly to form a sleeve-like member embracing the stem and urging the latter upwardly so that the valve head is normally in contact with the resilient member 30. When the stem is tilted sideways, the contents of the container can flow past the valve bead, through the openings 56, and out through the end of the stem. The passage through the latter is formed as a divergent nozzle. An inwardly directed rib 44 on the sleeve-like portion of the member 30 presses on the stem and prevents leakage of fluid along the latter. The upper end of the sleeve-like portion engages an external collar 50 on the stem. The stem is also formed with a screw thread 18 which can be engaged by a cover 14, the latter preventing the stem from being tilted inadvertently.
