Abstract

947,083. Bottling. S.A. DE CONSTRUCTION DE MATERIEL D'ALIMENTATION. Feb. 6, 1961 [Feb. 8, 1960], No. 4331/61. Heading B8T. A filling head of a counter-pressure machine comprises a spring-loaded sleeve 12 sliding in a fixed block 14. At the start of filling the bottle raises the cone 1 against the sleeve 12 and forces member 6 up against a stop 11, whereby sleeve 12 is raised and causes lever 26 at the top of rod 28 to pivot and lift a valve 24 away from the end of a vent pipe 24 carried by the sleeve to admit counterpressure through the orifices 2 of nozzle 3. When counter-pressure is established in the bottle, spring 20 lifts the valve 5 away from its seat 7 and the liquid flows through orifices 17<SP>1</SP> and past valve 5 into the bottle. When the liquid level reaches orifices 2 the flow is reduced and finally a float valve 9 closes orifices 10<SP>1</SP> to shut off the flow. As the bottle is moved away from the nozzle, valve 23 closes the vent tube and during the initial downward movement of valve 16 a relief valve 33 is opened by a cam 32 to release the pressure from the neck of the bottle.
