Abstract

598,923. Bottle &c. closures. THOMS, C. D. June 11, 1945, No. 14777. [Classes 125 (ii) and 125 (iii)] A valved closure for a bottle &c. comprises an apertured cap 25 adapted to be secured over the container mouth, e.g., by crimping at 27, an apertured resilient gasket 28 having depending therefrom a valve seat in the form of an annular flange 30 and a valve 32, secured to the gasket, with its stem 35 in the gasket aperture and its head in engagement with the valve seat 30 to seal a passage extending from the seat to the exterior of the cap, such passage comprising, preferably, an annular space 56 a latenal passage 38 and the hollow interior 37 of the stem of the valve. The valve and gasket are secured together by a plate 36 which bites into the valve stem at 57. To dispense the content, which may be a fluid under pressure, the valve head is moved from its seating 30 by pressure on the valve 32 or plate 36 so to fix the gasket to allow the contents to flow through the stem of the valve. A separate tool or a lever attached to clip on the neck of the container, furnished with a dispensing aperture may be provided for this purpose.
