Abstract

998,133. Bottle closures. W. HABERLE. Jan. 25, 1962 [Jan. 30, 1961], No. 2779/62. Heading B8T. A closure for bottles &c. includes a housing 1 fitted to the bottle neck 11 and a flexible tube 3 serving as a passage both for filling and emptying the bottle with its ends 4 supported on the end faces of a surrounding body 2, the passage through the tube being normally held closed by a slide 5 urged inwardly by a spring 7 acting on a lever 23 pivoted at 22 to the housing. The spring and the lever 23 also urge a ball crank lever 9, also pivoted at 22, to the position shown, whereby an outlet opening 20 provided with a pouring lip 21, is closed. The closure is opened by depressing the lever 9 whereby the slide 5 is moved outwardly and the end of the bell-crank lever is moved away from the opening 20. The housing is screwed on to a split collar 14 having a bead 32 engaging a groove in the bottle neck. The slide and wall of the body 2 through which it slides are so shaped that increased pressure within the bottle produces an improved sealing of the passage through the flexible tube.
