Abstract
1,118,934. Caps for collapsible containers. A. EGLI, and F. LANDOLT. 12 Aug., 1965 [17 Aug., 1964], No. 34651/65. Heading B8T. A dispersing screw-cap 3 for a collapsible container 2 encloses an annular seating spring 7 between itself and the container neck 1, a vertical leg 7<SP>11</SP> extending centrally from the spring and carrying a valve ball 5 which seals the discharge opening 4 of the cap when the latter is fully screwed down. On partially unscrewing the cap, dispersing pressure applied to the walls of the container 2 causes the contents thereof to urge the ball 5 away from the opening 4, permitting discharge. A tubular sealing sleeve 9 having a slot 10 to receive a radial arm 71 of the spring may depend from the shoulder 6 of the cap against which the spring is seated, but this sleeve may be dispensed with. An annular groove may be provided within the cap to receive the periphery of the spring. The transverse portion of the spring may be in the form of an elongated ring, or may comprise a leaf spring. In the latter case seating rings (14), Fig. 7 (not shown), may be provided in an annular groove, between the cap and container neck. The spring and valve ball may be of plastics material or of plasticscoated steel.
