Abstract
631,805. Bottling. BRAEMS, J. Sept. 20, 1946, No. 28264. Convention date, Aug. 17. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sec. 91 of the Acts, March 23, 1947.] [Class 125(ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] In a bottle-filling apparatus in which liquid is stored under pressure in a reservoir, flow of liquid from the reservoir into the bottle is controlled by an automatic ball valve adapted to be opened by equalisation of the pressures in the reservoir and bottle, and to close when there is any substantial difference between these pressures. The interior of the bottle 5, Fig. 1, is placed in communication through a pipe 7 with the compressed gas above the liquid in the reservoir 1 by rotation of a plug-cock 9, whereupon the ball valve 8 (see Group XXIX) drops from its seating into a retaining socket to allow liquid to flow into the bottle. The plug-cock is rotated to close the pipe 7 and gas escapes from the bottle through a pipe 10, having a check valve 11, until the liquid level rises above the open end 12 of the pipe 10. When the bottle is removed or should excessive flow be caused by leakage or breakage of the bottle, the liquid force on the ball valve reseats it.
