[Class 125 (ii)] A filler valve for filling bottles &c. with liquids, e.g., milk, comprises a nozzle 78, Figs. 2 and 3, carried in a tube 76 slidable in an outer tube 70 fixed in the milk &c. reservoir, a further slidable tube 92 weighted at 100 and flared at 96 to close the bottom of the third entrance channel defined by tubes 76 and 92, and a slidable rod 105 weighted at 120 and carrying a coned head 111 which normally closes the entrance to vent tube 92. The vacuum in the reservoir normally holds valves 111, 96 seated, but when a bottle is pressed against washer 80, the tubes 76 and 92 and rod 105 first move bodily against the pressure of a spring 89, until a stop 121 contacts rod 105 and opens valve 111 which causes the withdrawal of air from the bottle to begin. When the pressure in the bottle has been reduced valve 111 opens further and valve 96 falls from its seating and milk is admitted to the bottle through ports 95. If a damaged bottle is used the air leakage prevents the opening of valve 96. Alternative forms for the upper end of the filler head are shown in Figs. 16 and 18. The reservoir 30, Fig. 2, rotates on a pillar 133 around a tube 35 between which a tube in a channel is constituted for connecting to a vacuum through pipe 31. Milk &c. is supplied through tube 24 and the level is controlled by a float 53, which in the position shown closes the milk entrance by a washer 55, but which admits liquid by port 56 through a filter 62 when the level falls. The float is prevented from rotating.
