Abstract
174,684. Paget, G., and Jackson, C. Sept. 30, 1920. Measured-quantities apparatus, valve systems for.-Relates to apparatus for delivering measured quantities of milk or the like, and consists in a can having, in combination, piston-operated means for transferring milk from a container to a measuring chamber from which it is dispensed, and a sediment collecting chamber such as described in Specification 174,683, [Class 66, Hollow-ware]. As shown in Fig. 7, a can 1 with a bottom plate 26 containing a perforation 25 has a sediment-collecting chamber 24 with an emptying-hole 27. A pump 13 fixed to the lid of the can delivers milk to a measuring-chamber 20, from which it is dispensed through a cock 21. In a modification, the liquid is raised by putting the contents of the can under air pressure by means of a hand-pump. In a further modification, the measuring-chamber and separate pump are replaced by a graduated glass cylinder 2, Fig. 3, with a piston 3 and an inlet and outlet cock 6, allowing a variable quantity of milk to be drawn into the barrel and to be discharged through the outlet 8.
