Abstract
197,589. Hopkins, C. Y., and Cartland & Son, Ltd., J. July 28, 1922. Fan-light and pivoted-window opening and closing apparatus.-Opening and closing apparatus for a window of the kind having a pivoted rack-bar and pivoted gear-box, comprises a gearbox a, made from a single casting, having a throughway aperture for the worm b closed by a cap j, and a second aperture at right-angles to the first for the rack-bar c, the intermediate wheel d being mounted on a pin f beneath a coverplate. The gear-box is carried on trunnions g bv a bracket h. The end thrust on the worm is taken by a shoulder and cross-pin i in the gearbox. The cord pulley is made from two plates k with staggered grips fixed on the squared &c. end of the worm spindle. The cord guide has a tailpiece acting as guard and a slot acting as guide.
