Sliding-window opening and closing apparatus. -Vehicle or other windows sliding in a vertical or slightly inclined plane are raised and lowered by means of an endless cable passing round four guide pulleys K - - N, of which the pulleys M, N, carry the cord as shown parallel to the middle of the window to which it is connected between said pulleys. An operating handle 0 is connected to the cord at two points between the pulleys K and L or may be guided by a crosspiece and rollers o<2> working in a, slot d<1>, Fig. 4, and connected to the cord at one point. The cord is clamped to a bracket G secured to the bottom rail of the sash. The upper pulley M may be situated above the pulleys K, L, when applied to large windows. The bottom pulley N is held in an adjustable forked bracket c.
